Sailing....smoked salmon and sparkling cider.  It doesn't get any better than this.Whether you're a first-timer or an old salt, an afternoon or evening in the Montague River area is a great way to experience the joy of sailing.  Montague and surrounding areas offer pictureseque scenery, seals and great nooks to discover.

Sailing is a passion for many Islanders and none are more passionate about it than Ellen MacPhail of WaveSkills Sailing School based in Montague (45 minutes east of Charlottetown).

Ellen has over 20 years sailing experience and is PEI's first ever certified instructor for keelboats.

Learning the Ropes is the perfect opportunity to learn first hand what is involved with sailing.

Join Ellen aboard Picture Perfect for an afternoon or evening of hands-on learning.  Feel the warm summer breeze against your face as you take the helm and the rush of the wind filling the sails as you raise them up the mast.  You'll learn about points of sail, boat handling, charts and GPS navigation.

But it won't be all work!  Ellen has created a special surprise based on her childhood fascination with looking for messages in a bottle....so bring your imagination.

And what would sailing be without Island-smoked salmon served up on delectable locally made bagels with cream cheese & capers.  Imagine watching the setting sun from the deck of the Picture Perfect as you wash down smoked oysters on thin wafers with chilled sparkling cider followed by saltwater taffy or Island chocolates. 

Upon disembarking each crew member will receive a small gift that will remind them of their Island experience when they get home.

Learning the Ropes is available daily from June til early October.  Maximum 4 participants. 

Two sailings to choose from:  12:30-4:30 pm or 4:30-8:30 pm    Requires 48 hours notice.

Fee: $480.00 plus GST  ($120/pp for 4 participants)
