You'll head down to the orchard with Mark Ashley who will explain how Wintermoor Orchard got its name and why he’s so passionate about growing apples, pears, cherries and plums.  You'll be treated to the stories of the history of different varieties of apples from the classic older varieties like russet and gravenstein to some of the newer varieties like Williams Pride and Paulared. 

You'll wander the orchard sampling and choosing your favorite ripe varieties. As new varieties ripen weekly, you'll be able to experience the differebt tastes as sharp and sweet collide.

Once the picking is done, you'll bring your apples up to the cider plant where you'll be involved in every aspect of the process.   You'll wash the apples and then run them through the pulp machine.  Once the pulp is made, it goes into the cider press so all the juice is squeezed from it.  Then into the jugs…..at which point it’s also ready to be tasted.  It doesn’t get any fresher than this!

But the experience doesn’t end there.  Mark likes his guests to share in some hot mulled cider and warm apple dumplings…..a special treat for a job well done.   You'll leave with a jug of cider you made yourself and a 3 lb bag of apples.
