Step Back in Time
Meet the Neighbours

Re-live the story of the Prince Edward Island shipbuilding industry in its glory days.

You’ll explore the restored Victorian rooms of historic Yeo house in Port Hill, home of successful shipbuilder James Yeo Jr., considered to be the richest and most influential man in the colony in the mid-1800’s.

Damaris Yeo was an elegant, gracious hostess and Yeo house was very much the social centre of western Prince Edward Island and today you’ll experience what life was like in the home of a wealthy shipbuilder in the pre-Confederation era.

Yeo House and Shipbuilding Museum are located in beautiful Green Park in western Prince Edward Island.

You’ll start your experience with a visit to the Shipbuilding Museum where you’ll learn how sailing ships were built here and at other locations across the Island.

Then a member of James and Damaris Yeo’s staff will take you up to the house where you’ll help with the daily chores of an 1865 country household. You’ll get to try your hand at the craft of spinning and weaving.

Enjoy the experience of cooking and tasting scones made over an open hearth topped with freshly made butter. Immerse  yourself in the warmth and comfort of their country kitchen while enjoying the fruits of your labor.
